Six AM. Wrong coffee. Bay light through the curtains. Twenty minutes at the window where the city hasn't woken yet — and Carmen asks about intentions at brunch.
Chapter 5: The Glass Wall
Two weeks of careful professional distance. Stella asks the right questions. The Vasquez account arrives through Marcus — with a retreat in the Keys and Declan Stone on the attendee list.
Chapter 6: What Gets Said in the Dark
Leo Vasquez says something at the terrace dinner that means more than its words. Carmen calls with news she's been keeping. Declan comes to Remy's door and says: come for a walk.
Chapter 7: Coral Reef
Remy runs the Saturday presentation and Sebastian arrives at the resort. She handles both — and finds a note on her notebook in handwriting she recognizes.
Chapter 8: Present It Like a Promise
Vasquez confirms the full engagement. Declan knocks on the wall. They agree to wait until the structure is right — and he says whatever you're about to ask, the answer is yes.
Chapter 9: The Glass Shower
A midnight fire alarm. The last two in the courtyard, a generator's blue light — she reaches up and puts her hand on his jaw and answers the question she's been carrying. Then the wall knock at two AM.
Chapter 10: The Sabotage
Sebastian sends an email to the Vasquez contact that cannot go unanswered. Remy answers it — in a hallway, without shaking, without performing anger. Just the fact of it.
Chapter 11: The Drive Back
The board meeting goes well. Patricia says something in the kitchen that changes everything. Remy drives to the causeway and sits with the engine off and doesn't text him back.
Chapter 12: The Space Between
Eight days. One letter. On the eighth day she goes to his office, says the true things, and leaves — and he follows her to the parking structure.
Chapter 13: Making Room
His apartment. His east window. She tells him what she needs and he changes one thing and it's enough. In the morning there's already a coffee made the right way.
Chapter 14: The Campaign
The Vasquez campaign launches at the Coral Reef Resort. She stands in the lobby of the thing she built and photographs it. Both things — the work and the other thing — are real and hers.
Chapter 15: Unscripted
The east-side studio, three weeks in. The Brazilian restaurant on Wynwood. The declaration — his first, hers second — neither of them careful about it anymore.
Chapter 16: November
Carmen's surgery. He arrives at two o'clock with the right coffee and chamomile for Carmen — sits in the corner, says nothing, requires nothing. After, he drives her home.
Chapter 17: Unscripted
The east-side office. The studio name. Carmen waking up and seeing what's across the room. And Remy, finally, keeping the best proof she's ever had.
